Star kin Swatch Extravaganza: Part Two

Okay hi guys! welcome to part two of my massive swatchfest of stunning Star Kin polishes!
let's get straight to it!

First up is 335.6 a thermal colour changing polish! Packed with multiple blue, green and purple glitters it changes from a pretty lilac to a soft blue! I did not manage to capture the natural gradient effect this polish gives but it is so pretty.

However here is a bottle shot of 335.6 to show you the beautiful glitter range.

Here is the cold version as you can see I ran my hand under the tap to get a true colour! This is three coats ( I added a coat this morning to touch it up because I slept on it and slightly ruined it) but it was opaque with two coats.

and here is the warm colour (again under the tap) most of the time my nails are a pretty gradient mi of the blue with purple tips! The photos I took did not show this however :(

Star Kin Swatch Extravaganza: Part One

Okay I have just received my beautiful bundle of gorgeous Star Kin polishes! I am over the moon with all the pretties! Because I have so many polishes I want to swatch I will be doing it in two parts. I have two very exciting custom polishes to share with you as well!

Okay here we go! eeeeek

**WARNING** the following blog post is very picture heavy! :)

First up we have Pansy! So sparkly and pretty! This shade of purple is gorgeous and it looks stunning on!

This is three coats of Pansy with no top coat. The glitters  in this are amazing it really has such a pretty shimmer to it. I did not do this colour justice by taking the photo inside. It sparkles like crazy in the sunlight!

Custom Polishes

Today is a very exciting day as I will be swatching my beautiful new custom polishes by the ever so talented ladies at Star kin and Every Sensory!!
These are my first ever custom made polishes and I have to say.. I am addicted!
Without further adieu

Slice of life
This polish is a nude/slightly pink toned creme with a very subtle shimmer (see in the close up image) with a variety of red glitters including squares, circles and large circles. This polish was inspired by my love of gore ( I am an amateur special FX artist) and my love of the t.v series Dexter! The name comes from Dexter's boat "Slice of Life". The constancy of the polish is perfect - this is two coats and it is opaque. I only needed to do the slightest amount of fishing to get the large red circles but other than that the glitter consistency is great!

Life's Peachy
This polish is a pretty peach creme with mass amounts of  square and circle gold and holographic glitters .
Again this polish only needs two coats to be opaque and glitter consistency is perfect! This is a very girly and cute polish perfect for summer.

.

Here are the two bottles together

The entire process of creating my pretties was so fun! Ami was so great to work with and the polishes are perfect! happy happy joy joy! :)

Feeling Funky - matte glitter and studs

Just a quick post to showcase today's manicure - a colourful and fun design! I used 80's Lycra a matte glitter topper from Starkin over black. For an extra edgy look I added some studs too! I got so many compliments on these nails today :)

Polishes used:
80's Lycra - Starkin
Onyx - Maybelline Colour Show Collection
Maximum Growth - Sally Hanson (base coat)
Clear - Maybelline Colour Show Collection (top coat)

That's all lovelies

Orange, Glitter and Tigers.

I brought Hobbes from Starkin the other day! I was inspired to continue on with the themed by creating a cute little Hobbes peaking up from my ring finger. I thought this would compliment the beautiful polish based on the character Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes nicely.

Firstly I couldn't resist posting a snippet of Calvin and Hobbes!

Here is the polish Hobbes which is an orange jelly with matte glitters of a variety of shapes and some gorgeous tiny orange iridescent glitters that give it a delicate shimmer.

And here are my nails with cutesy mischievous Hobbes peaking out

I used two coats of Alluring Amber by Revlon and one coat of Hobbes (did a teeny bit of fishing to get some specific shapes I wanted)

I absolutely adore this polish and my cute little tiger friend accent nail :)

That's all folks

Nice n' Simple

Here are two simple manicures I forgot how much I loved to wear!!

Manicure one
Plain and simple french manicure.  For this manicure I used Sally Hanson Maximum Growth nourishing nail colour for the base and Sally Hanson Sheerly Mauve natural white for the tips. I was too lazy to wait for my base to completely dry before painting the tips so I didn't use a guide, I did the tips freehand (so they are a tad wobbly). I forgot how clean and classy a classic french tip manicure can be.

Manicure two
Simple, fresh and fun solid colour with two glitter accent nails. For the block colour I used Maybelline's Coral Crush from the Colour Show Collection. The Gold glitter was Chi Chi  Kim Wannabee Hilton. These nails are bright and feel really fresh and fun to have a solid colour with a pop of glitter! Nothing too dramatic but lets the colour really shine. Loved wearing these nails - they made me feel girly.

That's all folks,

The ants invaded the teddy bear's picnic!

OCTOBER!! October is my favourite month of the year! The weather is warmer and it's HALLOWEEN!! I am so excited to do cute and creepy nails. I was wondering what I could do to kick off the month when I was inspired by a little creepy crawly making his was across my desk.. an ant! Then I got thinking and I have been wanting to try Gingham on my nails for awhile so the picnic was spread across my nails filled with delectable sweet treats and some not so welcome guests!

I now have the song "the ants go marching two by two haarar, haarar" stuck in my head!

List of polishes used:
White on - Sally Hanson
Onyx - Maybelline Colour Show
Stormy - Revlon
Sassy - Revlon
Talk the Talk - Chi Chi
Moody Red - L.A Colors
Maximum Growth - Sally Hanson (base coat)
Clear - Maybelline Colour Show (top coat)

Overall I am super pleased with how these nails turned out. Although I do need to invest in some new striper brushes ( I am so useless at trimming brushes down).

Alien Party

This manicure has several different elements to it. I was swatching my new polish "Flock Together" by Starkin when i was inspired to create alien art! To make it a little different I made the aliens ombre and glow in the dark.

This is "Flock Together" with a base coat and one coat. I quite like the sheer look with the all the glitters. Fun but somewhat elegant.

First post eeek!

Okay so in honor of my first post  I decided to do a bit of a run down about me and post my first nail art attempts (on record).

So my name is Charlotte and I am a 20 year old nail polish addict! I especially love free hand nail art. I live in the bay of plenty New Zealand. Until two years ago I was a chronic nail biter until I was introduced to the wonderful world of nail art. I dipped my toe into the blogging world recently 3 months ago with tumblr and facebook. Now I want to adventure deeper into the blog world and create a "real blog" where I can write about my manicures, swatches and anything else polish related.

So here they my first attempts at nail art! are shatter, newsprint, daisies, polka dots and pacman! eek they are so short!
